Haney bids to retain his crown as WBC super lightweight world champion this weekend, as he enters the ring for the first time since he won the belt with a unanimous decision win against Regis Pograis in December last year.
The American stepped up a weight category for the fight having been crowned as undisputed lightweight champion in 2022 following two victories over George Kambosos, followed by a statement win in August last year against Vasiliy Lomachenko.
The 25-year-old carries a perfect record into this weekend's bout, having won all 31 of his professional fights, of which 16 have been won by decision, including each of his last eight fights going the full distance.
Standing in his way of retaining the WBC super lightweight belt for a first time is fellow American Ryan Garcia, who was the WBC's interim lightweight champion in 2021 following a seventh round stoppage victory against Luke Campbell in Dallas.
The 25-year-old, who like his opponent hails from California, will be taking part in his first proper world championship fight this weekend, and got back to winning ways in his most recent bout against Oscar Duarte in December last year.
Nicknamed 'The Flash', Garcia fell to his first and so far only defeat of his professional career in his prior fight after being knocked out in the seventh round in his fight against current WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in April last year, leaving his record currently standing at 24-1, with 20 wins by knockout.
