Canelo Alvarez has six boxing brothers who achieved varying levels of success in the paid ranks.

The Mexican superstar has held world titles in four different weight classes and is widely considered to be one of the best boxers of the modern era.

While none of his brothers reached the same heights as the former pound-for-pound king, a few of them were able to make a name for themselves in the sport.

Most notably, Ramon Alvarez (29-8-3), who fought for a WBA 'regular' super-welterweight belt and shared the ring with former world champions Erislandy Lara and Antonio Margarito.

Rigoberto Alvarez (27-4) also carved out a decent career, winning a WBA 'interim' light middleweight belt by defeating surging Japanese contender Nobuhiro Ishida, as well as challenging for the same WBA 'regular' belt against Austin Trout.

Ricardo Alvarez didn't face the same level of opposition as Ramon or Rigoberto during his 30-fight stint in the pros (24-3-3) but did record a victory over former WBA bantamweight world champion John Michael Johnson.

However, the American was well past his best by that point.

From here, the résumés take a steep decline.

Victor Alvarez (0-2) fought twice as a pro, losing both inside the distance while Daniel Alvarez (0-1) and Gonzalo Alvarez (0-1) both lost their debuts and never fought again.

Daniel went the distance with fellow debutant Oscar Pena while Gonzalo was knocked out by the lesser known Joel Gonzalez in the third round.

Their maiden appearances in the pros took place in June 2008 at the Palenque Calle 2 in Zapopan, Mexico on a card that included all seven Alvarez brothers.

The seven siblings accepted a Guiness World Record for the feat during the press conference for Canelo vs John Ryder last year.

While Daniel, Gonzalo and Victor lost, Rigoberto, Ramon, Ricardo and Canelo all got their hands raised.

Canelo, who was 17 years old at the time, was given the toughest test out of them all - a fight with former long-reigning IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez, which he won via unanimous decision.

In his next outing, Canelo faces Jaime Munguia on May 4 in Las Vegas in his fourth defence of his undisputed super-middleweight crown.

Munguia is one of the most promising contenders in a weight class bursting with talent.

The 27-year-old is a former WBO super-welterweight world champion and holds solid wins at 168lbs over Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Ryder.
