There is a reason that Mike Tyson's name still loudly rings out in the boxing world.

Iron Mike was scary as heck in the ring during his prime.

Tyson will be 58 years old when he fights YouTube star Jake Paul in a must-watch fight on July 20 inside 80,000-capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas that will be streamed live on Netflix.

The pros and cons of a matchup against the 27-year-old Paul have been fiercely debated since the stunning announcement of the fight first went viral.

Even Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has weighed in on Tyson's old-school power and how Paul could win.

"I'm scared of Mike Tyson," Mahomes said.

Back in 1988, Tyson was in his heavyweight prime and truly on top of the boxing world.

Video footage of a near-silent ring walk captures just how scary and intimidating Tyson was.

"This is the most hardcore s*** in the history of the universe," one fan posted.

What makes the footage so intense is the fact that Tyson walked up to the ring with almost no sound.

Music normally blares from arena or stadium speakers, while boxers often spend months picking the perfect song to pair with their entrance.

Not Iron Mike on June 27, 1988.

With Michael Spinks waiting for an intensely hyped showdown in Atlantic City, New Jersey at Atlantic City Convention Hall near Donald Trump Plaza, Tyson slowly walked toward the ring in near silence.

"This heavy metal sound you hear is Mike Tyson about to make his way into the ring, I believe," an announcer said.

But it wasn't electric guitars shredding or drums being pounded.

The only sound -- other than a growing buzz from a packed crowd -- was the eerie sound of clanking chains.

"All I can say is, a heavyweight champion is about to make his appearance in the ring," the announcer said.

"Mike Tyson selected his pre-fight music as just noise. Every once in a while you hear the clanging of chains.

"I think that's what he's got in mind to do to Mike Spinks' head, but we'll see.

"Everything that Tyson does is intimidating."

Tyson wasn't wearing a big coat, yet he'd already worked up a full sweat before entering the ring.

The sound of clanking chains was the only noise coming through the speakers.

"The reason it is impossible to find Tyson's entrance 'music' is because it was never recorded," one fan said. "They simply stuck a microphone in his soul and played that over the loud speakers."

" 'Everything Mike Tyson does is intimidating'. Never heard a truer statement," a second fan posted.

"This is the best ring entrance of all time," a third fan said. "Spinks had this upbeat music playing. And then all of a sudden, in enters Tyson, with this menacing noise blaring, the whole crowd in awe with goosebumps, as he coldly approaches the ring."

"His was and still is the most intense, intimidating entrance to a fight, or anything for that matter," a fourth fan wrote. "It’s like an animal being led to his meal. Holy s***."

It got even more intense once the clanking chains stopped and Tyson started throwing punches.

Spinks was knocked out in just 91 seconds, suddenly ending a fight that had been hyped for months.

Tyson held the WBA, WBC and IBF heavyweight titles, and was known across the globe as the best boxer alive.

After dealing with serious life troubles and being jailed, Tyson has turned his life around in 2024.

"I'm just very grateful - I'm a cool guy, I'm a good person, I treated everybody nice," Tyson said on The Pivot podcast.

"I had the best three years of my life in prison."

If Iron Mike can capture any of his old boxing form on July 20 inside an NFL stadium that normally belongs to the Dallas Cowboys, Paul might wish that he'd stayed on YouTube.

"There's not another boxer on the planet who was as intimidating as Tyson was," a fan posted.
