Having signed from Manchester City for just £15m last summer, reports suggest that Pep Guardiola's men have a £40m buyback clause.
The young juggernaut also played under current Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca in the City youth set-up, and Sherwood believes Delap could head to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Tim Sherwood has been very impressed by Liam Delap (Image: Nick Potts/PA Sport) “I can absolutely see Liam Delap in a Chelsea shirt next season,” Sherwood, who played for Blackburn, Spurs and Portsmouth in the Premier League before managing Tottenham and Aston Villa, told Norsk Poker.

“He’s also got pace, he’s the full package. That said, he’s still developing so if anyone were to snap him up this summer, he’d be a great project.
"I think it’s a shame he had to leave Manchester City, but we’ve seen that happen to a few players and they’ve really come into their own.

"I wouldn’t be turning him down, he’ll be costing around double what Ipswich paid for him, he’d be worth every penny of the £40 million pounds he’s worth.
“I think Kieran McKenna has managed him really well and now is the time for him to crack on at somewhere bigger.
"If Ipswich manage to stay up, which I doubt they will, I think Liam Delap will still be a Premier League player next season.”
